The fly we'll share in this episode is a variation of the Clouser Deep Minnow designed by Joe Cornwall in 2003 to fool smallmouth bass on Midwestern flows. The Mixed Media uses a creative application of natural and synthetic materials to present an irresistable action and profile that imitates crayfish, darters, sculpins or stoneroller minnows. It's a top producer! If you'd like to see this video in high-definition, please join us at www.flyfishohio.com where you can download all our new patterns in 720p!

Welcome to the show, It's February 2010. Today we're going to tie the Murdich Minnow, a great baitfish imitation with a life-like shimmer and great swimming action. While designed for salt water striped bass, the Murdich has found a nearly cult-like following among serious smallmouth bass fanatics. You need to carry this pattern in your kit, it's changing the game from the upper Midwest on down!
Welcome to the show, It's March 2010. This month we'll share one of our favorite smallmouth bass patterns. Bob Clouser's Foxee Red Clouser is an excellent pattern for both bass and trout. A few modifications can actually make it even more productive for smallmouth. This is a great imitation of a soft-shell crayfish or a johnny darter, both top smallmouth meals. Tie a few of these and take them to the creek. We're confident you'll find this version of the Foxee Red to be nothing short of amazing!
Welcome to the show, It's April 2010. Our fly this month is from New Zealand. Named for the Duchess of Windsor, the Mrs Simpson is a "Killer" style of fly. The Killer is a pattern tied using cape or breast feathers tied parallel to the hook shank and veiling the body of the fly. The Mrs. Simpson has a reputation as a fly that fools difficult trout, but it's a good choice for bass and panfish, too! If you're ready to show the fish something different, this is a great place to start. The Mrs Simpson is a pattern illustrative of a style of tying that's seldom used in North America. If you fish this fly, you'll wonder why you haven't seen it before. It really is a killer!
Welcome to the show, It's May 2010. Our fly this month is the Fatal Attraction, a pattern created for striped bass by master angler Dan Blanton. Several years ago Ward Bean modified the pattern with a delightful "baby bluegill" pattern to tempt largemouth bass. We found that pattern to be an excellent creek smallmouth fly, but there are more pumpkinseed and long-ear sunfish in creeks than bluegills, so we modified the pattern again. This, then, is the Fatal Attraction Baby Pumpkinseed and for the last few seasons it's been the downfall of many a big smallmouth! Fish this pattern in size0 4, 6 or 8 from late June through mid September. We're willing to bet you give this pattern a good go you'll decide to keep a whole row in your streamer box. We do!
